Date: Sunday 1st July 2012
Venue: Mote Park, Maidstone, Kent
Time: 10.00 am to 4.30pm
Charity Information: The Kent and Medway Charity Team organises a range of activities to help the charitable sector with its fund-raising and supports initiatives to promote health and wellbeing, particularly amongst primary school children.
The charity works in partnership with the KM Group, Kent's biggest media organisation. The media group provides free office accommodation for the charity at its offices at Wraik Hill, Whitstable and provides editorial coverage for its shared activities.
The charity provides a range of services under the broad headings of charitable support, health and wellbeing and walk to school services.
Event Information: Enter a team in the KM dragon boat challenge and raise funds for your chosen charity and help charitable groups with their fund-raising.
The event raises funds for the KM Group's local charities of the year and allows school PTA groups, sports clubs, charities and businesses to raise funds for the cause of their choice.
Teams of 11 people will compete with one of the crew beating a drum to dictate the pace of the paddles. They will compete in a minimum of three races but the fastest teams will compete in the finals at the end of the day.
It is a challenge for those who wish to savour the ancient traditions of the dragon boat, as much as for those who want to test their strength and paddling technique by travelling across the 250m course in the fastest time.
It is also a day for spectators as well as for people taking part, with lots of side attractions and amusments.
